Patient extra and intra oral examination. Analysis of the consistency and the stability of the ridge mucosa.
Diagnostic Rx and clinical/parodontal analysis of the natural prosthesis abutment.
• Informing the patient of the ZX-27 system and the possible therapeutic alternatives.
• Drafting of the treatment plan in collaboration with the patient.
• Preparation of the natural dental elements to be included in the prosthetic project (fig. 7 and 8)
• Precision impression of the elements prepared, the close teeth and the soft tissues, with particular attention for the edentulous ridges, as well as the impression of the opposing arch (fig. 9).
• Recording of inter-maxillary relation with articulation wax or another appropriate material.
• Face bow where necessary.
• Testing the metallic frameworks with the ZX abutment positioned on site in order to verify the precision of each component (fig. 10, 11, 12 and 13).
In this phase the bio-glass abutments shall not be cemented, only wet with water and insert them in their housing in the metallic structure (in order to refer to the leading vestibular groove performed by the dental technician).
The bio-glass abutments are correctly adjusted when, applying pressure on the metallic structures on the natural elements prepared, a slight ischemic area can be observed in the mucosa support area (fig. 14 and 15).
Once the work is completed if all the parameters have been observed, first the glass abutments are cemented to the prosthetic structure; this is carried out with conventional cement, directly on the model; after the cement has been inserted in the bridge and the bridge has been placed on the ZX-27 bioglass abutment and pushed inside the model in the original position the entire bridge/abutments structure it is placed in the mouth and pushed manually until it properly fits on the natural abutment teeth. Do not make the patient clench on the cotton rolls during this phase! Once the cementation of the glass abutments is completed the cementation of the prosthesis to the natural teeth can be carried out (fig. 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21).
The prosthesis must be checked at regular intervals: after 1 week, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year. It is normal for the patient to feel a little pressure on the gums for 3-5 days.
It is important to provide all the information on the hygiene of the prosthesis, exactly like a conventional fixed prosthesis (interdental brush, super-floss, mouthwash, etc...). We suggest a control OPT after one year |
