CLINICAL CASE N. 1

65 year old patient, recently treated for an oncologic pathology, cannot have implants but would like a fixed solution. She's been having old fixed prosthesis, by now incongruous, as well as two removal prosthesis that replace the missing teeth. The OPT shows a loss of periodontal support but defect that can be managed only with non-surgical periodontal therapy..

A conventional treatment plan would require the placement of several implants; in this case it was decided to make two fixed prosthesis on natural teeth using three ZX abutments in the positions: 16, 25 and 46

The first step is to remove the old prosthesis followed by the application of temporary bridges that anticipates the corrections that shall be implemented with the new prosthesis regarding the increase of the loss of vertical dimension.

After the initial periodontal preparation the tissues respond correctly and the impressions for the final prosthesis can be taken

The pre-treatment and a two years distance OPT’s shows an osseous stability below the ZX abutments and a good mineralisation of the bone around the natural abutments
